Heiko WeidhaseChief Executive Officer Diploma in Business Management

Heiko Weidhase has been the Chief Executive Officer of Efficient Group since 2002. Prior to that, he was a partner at Philip Craib Investments, an investment management company where he was responsible for marketing, systems and finance. From 1991 to 2000 he was the Operations Director at Giants Canning (Pty) Ltd. From 1989 to 1991 he was the Factory Manager at the same company, prior to which he was the Production Supervisor.

Anton de KlerkChief Financial Officer BCompt (Hons), CTA, Advanced Certificate in Taxation, CA(SA)

Anton de Klerk is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. Before joining Efficient Group on 1 January 2008, his career included tenures as Group Accountant at DPI Plastics (Pty) Ltd, Financial Accountant at Progress Milling (Pty) Ltd and Financial Controller at Netcare Femina Clinic. He completed his articles at Van Staden & Roberts and was appointed Senior Audit Manager immediately thereafter.

Dawie Roodt Chief Economist MEcon (cum laude)

Dawie Roodt is an economist who specialises in fiscal and monetary policy. He brings invaluable exposure to the Group through his active presence in both the local and foreign media. He has been a member of the Tax Advisory Committee of the Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut and has represented Business SA at Nedlac. Dawie is an ambassador for Child Welfare (Bloemfontein), Childline (Free State) and the Adopt Moreletaspruit Forum. He was also the recipient of the 2016 Sake24 Economist of the Year Award.

Robert Walton BAcc (Hons), CMA, CA(SA)

Robert Walton is a pioneer in the financial services industry. Starting at Metropolitan, his career in the unit trust segment spanned 14 years. He was later Chief Executive Officer of the collective investment businesses, building an esteemed reputation within the industry. Robert graduated from the University of Stellenbosch and is a qualified CA(SA) and a CIMA(UK) member. He has also completed various executive management courses at Harvard (USA), Duke University (USA), Stanford (USA) and at the IMD (Switzerland).

Steve Booysen Chairman - DCom, CA(SA)

Steve Booysen completed his articles at Ernst & Young in 1983. After spending a few years as a senior lecturer at UNISA, he joined the banking industry where he held various positions. In 2004, he was appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of Absa Bank Limited, a position he held until February 2009.

Zee Cele BCom, Postgraduate Diploma in Taxation, MAcc

Zee Cele obtained a masters’ degree in accountancy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, specialising in taxation. She has been practicing as a tax practitioner since 1989. Her achievements during her working career include being awarded the SA Woman of the Year Award in the Business Category in 1999. She was also a member of government’s Standing Advisory Committee in Company Law and continues to be a member ofthe SA Institute of Professional Accountants and a Commercial Member of the Tax Court. She is actively involved in community development by presenting tax and business education talks on various radio stations.

Jerry Mabena BCom

Jerry Mabena holds a BCom degree in Industrial Psychology and Economics from Rhodes University. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Thebe Services Division, where he is responsible for the integration and growth of the Thebe Investment Corporation’s investment in the tourism, financial services and energy services industries. He has experience in advertising, marketing, and business management.

Babalwa Ngonyama BCom (Hons) Accounting, CA(SA), MBA

Babalwa Ngonyama is a graduate of the University of Transkei. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 after serving her articles of clerkship at PDB Pretorius Dondashe in Umtata from 1995 to 1998. Her academic qualifications also include an MBA from Bond University in 2002 and a Higher Diploma in Banking Law at Rand Afrikaans University (2003). Having been an audit partner at Nkonki and thereafter in Deloitte’s Financial Institutions Services Team (FIST) division, her clients included banks, treasury, private equity, and stockbrokers as well as divisions of two of the Big Four banks in South Africa. She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Sinayo Securities (Pty) Ltd, a woman-owned and managed business. She has received numerous awards celebrating her ability to overcome the impossible by achieving success while maintaining humility and willingness to serve people of South Africa as a mentor, guide and leader. She participates actively in numerous national forums on economic growth and development.

Joe Rosen BCom, BAcc, CA(SA)

Joe Rosen graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1984. After running his own financial services business, he joined Absa, where he worked for 15 years, first heading up the merchant bank product section andlater being appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Absa London. In 2011, Joe left Absa to pursue his own interests, using his entrepreneurial skills to acquire and create new businesses, both locally and internationally.

Ockert Goosen BCom (Hons) Accounting, CA(SA), MBA

Ockert Goosen qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1986 after completing his articles at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell (now KPMG). He accumulated extensive experience during his 17-year career in investment banking, commencing at Barclays Merchant Bank in 1986, in the corporate finance division. His exposure at FirstCorp and First National Bank ranged from relationship banking to managing credit risk, structured finance, regulatory arbitrage and securitisation. He joined Real Africa Durolink (RAD) Bank in 1996 where he held senior positions in the property finance, structured finance, credit, treasury and debt divisions. He was a director of RAD Bank and a number of companies in the RAD Group, including a member of RAD Bank’s Manco, Credit Committee and Investment Committee. In 2002, he joined Gensec Bank where he headed the securitisation unit in the debt finance division, responsible for a structured finance book and debt portfolio management. He has vast experience in asset management, structured and corporate finance, securitisation, treasury, credit management and managing collective investment schemes and was a founding member of Ora Fund Managers in 2003. He serves as Non-executive Director on certain of Trustee Board Investments (TBI) and TBI Strategic Partners’ investee company boards.

Stephen Rushton BCom (Hons) Accounting, CA(SA)

Stephen Rushton started his career in 2008 at KPMG, performing financial statement audits and supervising audit teams. Whilst at KPMG, he was also involved in presenting technical and soft skills training to groups and as a consultant in the Quantitative & Economic Analysis unit. In 2011, he became the Chief Financial Officer at Jones Lang LaSalle, a commercial real estate services company. Here he was involved with management, finance, strategy development, human resources, information technology, legal and compliance. Since 2013, he has been working for Thebe Investment Corporation where he specialises in mergers, acquisitions, disposals, debt raising, deal structuring and B-BBEE structuring across multiple industries.

Ian Groenewald BCom Accounting, BCompt (Hons)

Ian Groenewald started his career at Stannic in 1991. He joined Real Africa Durolink (RAD) in 1993 and went on to become the head of its structured finance business. He was a member of the RAD Group’s Management Committee and served as a director of RAD Holdings and various subsidiaries. In 1998, he relocated to London where he established and managed the RAD Group’s UK office. Following the takeover of the RAD Group in 2001, he joined Gensec in London and subsequently relocated to Cape Town in 2002. In addition to the design and implementation of structured finance transactions, he has acquired considerable experience in designing collective investment schemes and other investment products in various markets including South Africa. He is also an experienced dealmaker with a proven ability to build financial services businesses. He is one of the founding partners of Ora Fund Managers and served as the group Chief Executive Officer since 2010. In 2017, Ora merged with Trustee Board Investments (TBI) and he was appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the TBI Group from 1 July 2017. He is also an Executive Director and a member of the Investment Committee of TBI Strategic Partners, a subsidiary of the TBI Group.
